Day 8: Drive to Nagarhole National Park

Following breakfast at your hotel, set forth on a journey towards Nagarhole by road. Nagarhole National Park has evolved from its initial establishment as a wildlife sanctuary in 1955 into an illustrious national park by 1975. Spanning over 640 sq km northward from Kabini River, it features undulating terrain adorned with moist deciduous forests including bamboo groves, teakwood stands along with eucalyptus trees which provide sanctuary to diverse fauna including Nilgiri tahr, langurs, bison species among others like leopards plus Asian elephants not forgetting wild boars with deer species alongside dholes (wild dogs) plus porcupines; all coexisting beneath towering canopies that harbor rare birds such as the endangered Malabar trogon, Malabar pied hornbill, and crested hawk-eagle. Enjoy an afternoon safari to witness the rich biodiversity of Nagarhole. Despite past challenges, including significant upheavals in 1992, Nagarhole has shown remarkable resilience and continues to thrive, offering visitors a rejuvenated and vibrant wildlife experience. Day 9: Drive to Mysore

Start your day with breakfast at the hotel before heading to Mysore. Upon arrival, check into your hotel. Mysore, known for its award-winning railway station, is well-connected by rail to Bangalore and other regions. Historically, it was the capital of the royal Mysore province, named after the demon Mahishasura, who was defeated by Goddess Chamundeshwari. Mysore is famous for sandalwood, silk, and intricate inlay work. It is also a cultural hub, home to many renowned musicians and artists. Key attractions include Brindavan Gardens, Srirangapattana, Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary, Chamundi Hills, Nanjangud, Bandipur Forest Reserve, Shivanasamudra Falls, and Talakadu. Visit the attractions in Mysore. Mysore Palace: A stunning Indo-Saracenic structure with domes, turrets, arches, and colonnades. The palace is illuminated on Sundays and public holidays, offering a spectacular view. Chamundi Hills: A 335-meter-high landmark accessible by road or 1,000 steps. It features the Chamundeshwari Temple and a panoramic view of Mysore. Brindavan Gardens: Located at the KR Sagar Dam, this garden is known for its ‘Dancing Fountains’ and has been a popular film location since the 1960s. Day 10: Mysore to Bangalore

After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, embark on a scenic drive to Bangalore, with a stop at Shravanbelagola en route. Shravanbelagola: Located in Hassan District, this significant Jain center features two prominent hills, Chandragiri and Indragiri. Chandragiri houses the Chandragupta Basadi and the largest Parshwanatha Basadi. The town below boasts a Jain matha with ancient paintings. Indragiri is renowned for the 58-foot Gommateshwara monolith, installed by the Ganga general and scholar Chavundaraya. The hill also features several basadis, including Siddhara, Odegal, Chennanna, and Chauvvisa Tirthankara Basadis, as well as the intricately carved Tyagada Brahma Pillar. To the north lies Jinanathapura, home to the Aregal and Shantinatha Basadis from the Hoysala period. Shravanbelagola is also notable for its over 500 inscriptions, some documenting the Jain practice of sallekhana (ritual fasting to death).
